I met a friend at Somerset 313 a couple days ago.

We went to Kushigin Japanease Restaurant for dinner after a hard day's work.

We just sat down, the waitress served us hot towels, hot green tea and Hijiki, a kind of brown sea vegetable .

We wanted to have Yakitori set meal and a la carte mini steamboat.

The cold dish of the set meal, there were tofu, eggs, baby octopus and jelly fish.

They all tasted nice especially the raw baby octopus.

The grilled Saba fish was fresh and tasted a bit salty.

But, it went good with steam white rice.

The signature dish in Kushigin is Yakitori (grilled chicken), this is the main reason we came here.

Above are succulent grilled chicken breast with Japanese leek, chicken meat ball, bacon and asparagus bacon roll and another one unknown.

Before the skewers are grilled, the food is dipped into sweet soya sauce or salt.

Sweet soya sauce is mixed with sake, honey or maple syrup and soya sauce.

The last dish was a la carte mini steamboat.

It's fun to cook on the table with the traditional charcoal ceramic burner.

We both enjoyed so much with the soup and varieties texture from the hot pot like tofu, salmon fish, vegetables and etc.

Finally, the red bean paste with glutinous rice balls completed our meal.

It's not so sweet and the texture was smooth.

Please forgive the quality of these photos, I took them with my mobile phone.

I was quite impressed with their service and the food tasted good overall.

The waitress was very keen to approach customers before they raise request and always walked around to refill green tea for customers.

Thumbs up!
